Athens Guitar Making School is a space dedicated to the art of lutherie, with a particular focus on guitar making. Our goal is to share the knowledge, techniques, and philosophy behind the creation of a handcrafted musical instrument, combining traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary approach to guitar construction.

At the workshop, participants have the opportunity to explore in depth every stage of building a guitar: from selecting and understanding tone woods, to design and acoustic function, all the way to final assembly and finishing. The educational process is based on hands-on experience, careful guidance, and personal creativity, giving each student the opportunity to build their own unique instrument.

Our philosophy is based on respect for the material, the patience of handcraft, and a deeper understanding of the relationship between the maker, the instrument, and the music. We believe that building a guitar is not simply a technical process, but a creative journey that combines knowledge, craftsmanship, and personal expression.

Athens Guitar Making School was founded by luthier Giannis Seintoulas, who has many years of experience in the construction and study of the guitar. Giannis Seintoulas builds handcrafted guitars with particular attention to acoustic quality, ergonomics, and the aesthetic character of the instrument. His work is based on a deep understanding of materials and the behavior of wood, combined with continuous research into guitar construction.

Alongside teaching, he continues to build his own guitars in his workshop, dedicating time to the development of his instruments and the refinement of sound and construction details. For this reason, the number of students accepted each year is limited, allowing for high-quality personal guidance while maintaining his active work as a luthier.

For those who wish to pursue lutherie more seriously, there is the possibility of spending more time in the workshop and working more closely with the making process. This approach allows students to gain deeper experience and a more direct understanding of the craft.

Through the Athens Guitarmaking School, a small community of students has already formed—people who continue to build guitars, exchange knowledge, and develop their work together. This group of individuals who share the same passion for guitars and craftsmanship is one of the most vibrant aspects of the school, and our goal is to see this community continue to grow.
